Signature Programs
Learn From the Best
Our annual Learn from the Best (LFTB) guest mentor series has been one of the most successful programs in the San Francisco district since it was launched in Fall 2005. 150 Young Leaders participate in candid roundtable discussion with 15 senior regional real estate veterans, sharing lessons learned, tricks of the trade, career paths, and personal anecdotes. The result is a mutually rewarding experience, but one which allows the next generation to learn from the pros.
Peer to Peer Workshops
Peer to Peer Workshops are structured as small educational sessions, taught from the perspective of someone who remembers ‘what it’s like not to know,’ with the stated intention of helping fellow YLGers better understand different segments of the real estate industry so that they may further strengthen their understanding of how our dynamic business functions. Past workshops have covered diverse topics ranging from proforma modeling to entitlements to retail leasing.
Deal Crawl
From Mission Bay to Mid-Market and over to the Presidio, the Deal Crawl has brought Young Leaders through the Bay Area’s newest infrastructure projects and urban revitalization areas. Each year, Young Leaders enjoy an all access tour of multiple projects within the chosen neighborhood, ending the day with a networking reception at a nearby venue.
Kickin’ the Bricks
Similar to the Deal Crawl, Kickin’ the Bricks provides Young Leaders with a behind-the-scenes access to a single prominent Bay Area project, led by members of the development and design team. Recent Kickin’ the Bricks tours include Oakland Uptown, San Jose’s @First Project and San Francisco’s own AT&T Park.
Fireside Chat
The Fireside Chat series offers an exclusive opportunity to sit down with top Bay Area real estate icons in an informal and intimate setting in order to gather insight and perspective regarding leadership, career paths, success, lessons learned, sustainability and what ULI means to them.
Lunching with Leaders
This lunch series provides in-depth access to an industry icon as he or she walks the group through a case study of a recent deal or acquisition. The round-table lunch allows participants to have an interactive Q&A learning session led by one of the Bay Area’s top real estate professionals.
Ventures in the Vineyards
Just in time for the fall harvest, the YLG makes an annual trek to Napa Valley to tour the region’s newest development projects and enjoy some libations along the way. Recent highlights include downtown Napa’s Oxbow Market and Morimoto restaurant, Aetna Springs, and Rombauer’s Carneros Vineyard.
