Oakland Mayor Named as ULI Rose Center Fellow

Urban Land Institute San Francisco District Council announces that Oakland Mayor Jean Quan is one of four mayors of 2011-2012 Fellows for the ULI Daniel Rose Center for Public Leadership in Land Use. The national Urban Land Institute selected the mayors of Kansas City, Providence and Tampa, along with Quan for the year-long program. City Center San Ramon: An Update

On November 16, City of San Ramon Planning/Community Development Director Phil Wong and Sunset Development President Alex Mehran provided a capacity crowd of ULI members with an update on the City’s long-range planning process, in particular Sunset’s City Center project. East Bay Real Deals: Lake Chalet Tour and Holiday Social

A public/private partnership between the City of Oakland and the Chalet Proprietors made the renovation and rejuvenation of this building possible.  The project has transformed a derelict, 100-year-old historic building vacant for 20 years into 325-seat seafood restaurant and 80-foot bar with panoramic water views.  The project reinvigorated the surrounding neighborhood, created jobs, boosted sales tax and become an anchor that has attracted other entrepreneurs.
