On January 12, 2010, the California Building Standards Commission unanimously adopted the first in the nation green building code, CALGreen. CALGreen, which applies to all building permits pulled on or after January 1, 2011, requires residential and commercial developers to implement a wide range of sustainability measures in the areas of planning and design, energy efficiency, water efficiency and conservation, material conservation and resource efficiency, and environmental air quality. Although CALGreen may well serve as a model for green building codes in other states, it does not discuss conflicts with existing green building requirements.

What are the possible impacts for LEED and the GreenPoint Rated program? How does CALGreen propose to resolve the issue of conflicting State and local standards? Please join us for an afternoon discussion about the important impacts this new statewide legislation can have on your construction projects and the development industry.
